and Reuse Solutions
The treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater has continuously evolved over the last several decades. Membrane bioreactor (MBR) solutions emerged in the early 2000’s using primarily polymeric membranes. At first, MBR systems were relegated to niche applications requiring small footprint and high-quality effluent. Continuous evolution and refinement of MBR related technologies have progressed to the point where it is now the technology of choice for a wide array of applications. BluBox is a rapidly deployable, fully integrated MBR system.
BluBox was conceived of by a team of technology experts with a long history of delivering MBR solutions. The designers, engineers, fabricators, programmers, drafters, and technicians behind the product have been delivering MBR systems for nearly two decades. The average MBR related experience of the core design team is over 15 years.
Although membrane agnostic, the standard BluBox unit is equipped with BIO-CEL® Membrane Modules by Microdyn Nadir. There are over fifty BIO-CEL system installations in the U.S. and over 500 worldwide.
BluBox represents the next generation of MBR technology with a long history of success. BluBox is manufactured in Texas. It is delivered and supported by the most experienced MBR team in the industry.
Our focus at BluBox is to be the clear market leader in providing turn-key temporary, leased or site built MBR wastewater treatment and water reuse system solutions for flow rates ranging from 50,000 to 500,000 gallons per day.

Minimal On-Site Construction.
BluBox MBR is pre-plumbed, pre-wired and undergoes factory testing to minimize design engineering, project management and on-site construction resulting in lower costs and faster project response time
Control and instrumentation optimized for easy servicing and minimal operator attention
“Experience is critical. The BluBox team has been installing modular MBR systems incorporating either Microdyn-Nadir BIO-CEL or other competitive membranes since 2008 with great success. We’re building on proven MBR technology with key trusted partners.”
FULLY INTEGRATED WASTEWATER TREATMENT SYSTEM
Each BluBox is a stand-alone integrated wastewater treatment system capable of producing the highest quality effluent. BluBox MBR units are equipped with all critical process components including high quality fine screening, pumps, blowers, mixers, control valves, membrane modules, instrumentation, and control panels. The controls system is flexible and expandable.
70K GPD STANDARD SYSTEM
The nominal capacity of each unit is 70,000 gallons per day (gpd) without supplemental process tankage. The BluBox treatment capacity can be easily supplemented by adding process tankage for higher strength waste applications. With remote monitoring and reporting tools, operators can view their system and generate real-time performance reports.
150K GPD / 300K GPD STANDARD DESIGNS
The modularity of BluBox MBR units allows one to set up multiple trains with the base 150k and 300k designs to address higher hydraulic loads. In addition, one is able to phase in additional BluBox units over time as needed. All offboard equipment and unit operations are available as options for each project. From lift stations to equalization, generators, and waste solids management equipment, all plant assets are controlled by the onboard computer.
ROBUST, SIMPLE, EFFICIENT MEMBRANE CASSETTES
The reinforcing bars at the top seam and shock-absorbing rings make the L-2 Module three times more durable than older products. It is “the most durable BIO-CEL module ever made.” Low flux design ensures reliable operation and the fine bubble diffuser requires no routine maintenance.
HIGH EFFLUENT QUALITY
The BIO-CEL® membrane is a cost-effective and scalable solution for meeting challenging effluent requirements for wastewater treatment. The BIO-CEL MBR membrane serves as an effective physical barrier for the retention of solids and bacteria. It produces a high volume of superior quality effluent at a consistent flow rate and is especially useful for water reuse applications (California Title-22 approved).
LESS CLEANING TIME
The open-side design of the flat-sheet L-2 BIO-CEL® Membrane Modules simplifies maintenance as compared to competing technologies. The patented BIO-CEL MBR membrane laminate combines the advantages of flat sheet and hollow fiber membranes, allowing for backwash capability and increased durability.
ROBUST, SIMPLE CONTROLS
BluBox is equipped with Allen Bradley Panelview Plus 7. The user environment is easy to navigate and smartphone responsive. Operators receive meaningful, proactive notifications as needed instead of nuisance alarms that are often counterproductive. Basic operation can be done from one. main Overview page. All hardware is housed in a rugged NEMA4 panel.
POWERFUL, EASY DATA MONITORING
The Streametric data monitoring tool makes data management easy. Information is readily available from a smartphone using a secure connection and assignable privileges. The platform includes report generation tools, predictive analytics, and customizable dashboard. Each operator can setup his or her own landing page to see prioritize information based on preference.
The wastewater system is a self-contained, fully transportable, integrated assembly of equipment constructed for the purpose of treating wastewater. It is a biological process that utilizes submerged ultrafiltration (UF) membrane modules for the purposes of solids liquid separation. Bio-Win™ modelling and design calculations are provided to meet multi-jurisdictional regulatory environments.
A secondary fine screen is provided with each BluBox MBR unit for screen redundancy and re-screening for solid separation. The BluBox MBR unit dimensions are 45’ x 12’ x 8.5’ and are divided into four distinct zones. There is an Anoxic Zone, a Pre-Aeration (PA) Zone and two Membrane (MB) Zones. All required process treatment equipment including motor control panel, pumps, blowers and instrumentation are located on upper and lower process equipment porches. An optional UV disinfection can be placed on the lower porch. There are up to nine connections to the system including influent, rescreening, effluent, electrical, plant water, and four drains/WAS connections. Chemical feed systems are piped to off-board chemical drums.
